Project Mondrian Gold Coast
“Each venue at Mondrian Gold Coast embodies the soul of Burleigh; sunshine, surfing and covetable lifestyle focused, as well as being representative of Burleigh as an aspirational, international tourist destination.”
Alexander & CO., the integrated architecture and interior design practice, headed the project. Working alongside clients Vitale Property Group and Mondrian Gold Coast they developed the creative brief and brand pillars for the hotel entry and its two podium venues, LiTO and Haven. Whilst architects, Fraser & Partners and interior designers, Studio Carter designed all the spaces.
As part of the project, Furn-Niche was engaged before construction commenced to collaborate with the developer in establishing the FFE budgets. They then worked closely with the project's interior designers to refine their design vision into a commercially viable outcome that was also well suited to the South East Oueensland aesthetic.
Furn-Niche also acted as the product encineers and custom manufacturers for the loose furniture across the guest rooms and public areas, including the restaurants, pool deck and day spa. Their project management team coordinated all logistics and installation to ensure seamless delivery.
Jo Street from Furn-Niche said: "This project has been part of our business journey for more than three years, and we feel deeply connected to every space within it, with a story behind every piece. We worked to achieve a distinctive, almost hand-crafted feel throughout, while maintaining commercial durability, high quality, and accessible pricing.
"It has been especially meaningful to be involved in a project so close to home-one that friends and family can experience firsthand and truly understand what Furn-Niche is all about."

The flooring is a combination of stone Utzon inspired patterns, large expanses of concrete infill, oversize toothy scarpa tiles and grout, that is used to designate guests to the various zones within the venue.
The 10km long bar and front with a concrete curtain has a solid walnut top with lambs' tongue and ogee edge details and aged zinc inlay that adds a gentleness to what could be an architecturally monolith envelope.
ZETR electrical products feature in LiTO supporting the projects refined architectural language through considered electrical integration. Bringing considered power to the clientele of the restaurant, ZETR power is positioned at each booth behind the seating area, intuitively supporting the need to stay connected while enjoying the hospitality.
Nalla McMullen. Head of Sales at ZETR said: "Being part of the Mondrian Gold Coast reflects a natural meeting point between design intent and the way people experience electrical. It affirms our commitment to elevating hospitality environments with electrical details that enhance atmosphere, not interrupt it."
Haven, the third-floor seafood restaurant and pool club, embodies a coastal daydream. The venue captures the dynamic energy of Burleigh, with a cocktail bar, 150pax restaurant and the pool club with a 25m swimming pool.

“Mondrian Gold Coast’s hospitality story lies in amplifying the beautiful natural locale while embedding an aspirational nostalgia of Burleigh that never quite existed.”
The interior restaurant is simple and monolithic, reminiscent of a coastal ruin or wind-swept artifact. A large precast concrete bar with huge mirrors reflecting the green marble lined pool deck, a seafood ledge, pizza oven and open kitchen can be found at the venue.
The pool club is surrounded by ample umbrella lined sunbeds, two raised hot tubs and an outdoor deck bar. For guests wanting privacy and a little more luxury, five external rentable cabanas with banquettes that transform into daybeds and refrigeration are available.
Burleigh is a covetable global destination; vibrant, abundant in fresh food, sunshine and sublime ocean water. Mondrian Gold Coast's hospitality story lies in amplifying the beautiful natural locale while embedding an aspirational nostalgia of Burleigh that never quite existed.
