MDW2025: Design the world you want

This May, Studio Enti was proud to take part in Melbourne Design Week (MDW2025), Australia’s leading annual design event, built around the powerful and urgent theme: Design the world you want.

Held across multiple venues in Naarm/Melbourne, MDW2025 challenged creatives to design as a tool for transformation. The program asked designers to respond to pressing global challenges with work that “heals, replenishes, and enables life.”

At Studio Enti, our mission is rooted in a deep commitment to thoughtful craftsmanship and sustainable practices. Every piece of handmade porcelain is crafted for everyday use and lasting enjoyment. Guided by a belief in purposeful design, we emphasise longevity and environmental responsibility in all that we do.

We strive to create pieces that will be cherished by their owners for years to come, forming a deep connection with and appreciation for, the craftsmanship and integrity behind each creation. In a world where fast fashion and disposable items dominate, we believe in the beauty of slow, intentional, and mindful creation.

Lighting Up the Future: 100 Lights

Our contribution to this year’s program was as part of 100 Lights, a large group exhibition hosted by Friends & Associates*. Featuring work by over 110 of Australia’s most innovative studios and individual designers, 100 Lights explored the poetic and practical possibilities of lighting design.

Exhibiting alongside peers across diverse design studios, architects and practices, we were honoured to share space with so many brilliant minds - each using light as a medium to reframe how we see, feel, and interact with the world.

At its core, 100 Lights asked: How can light be more than illumination? How can it become an act of care, repair, and even resistance? Through form, materiality, and concept, each piece contributed to the broader conversation led by MDW2025.

*Friends & Associates is an ongoing process-based project initiated by Dale Hardiman and Tom Skeehan, formed in 2017. Click to see event details.

Shared Ethos

The invitation to “design the world you want” isn’t abstract, it’s deeply practical. It aligns with Studio Enti’s ethos: that sustainability is not a trend, but a responsibility. Our use of porcelain and embracing local craftsmanship reflects a belief in longevity, simplicity, and integrity in design.

Community & Change-Makers

The programs and events throughout MDW like 100 Lights not only showcases the abundance of talent, but they reinforce community. Being among friends, collaborators, and industry partners reminded us that meaningful design is collective. It happens when ideas are shared, values are aligned, and futures are imagined together.

We’re grateful to Friends & Associates support, National Gallery of Victoria, Creative Victoria, and to Melbourne Design Week for continuing to be a platform for vital creative dialogue. This year reaffirmed that “design is boundless” and it can indeed be an act of transformation and most importantly, a way forward.
